6th Form Portfolios

It's always a really busy time of year here in the Art department for our 6th formers, as it's time for them to put their portfolios together for interviews.

We have had some really impressive work this year, which has made it really hard to choose what should be taken out of the portfolios as it all can't be shown! After a few hard weeks of planning and lots of mounting they are finally coming together.

Take a look at what the students have put together...

Ian Murphy Workshop

This week we had the pleasure of having artist Ian Murphy come into the department for two days to give the Sixth Formers an exciting work shop.

Over the two days the students focused on drawing architectural facades on a range of different scales. They experimented with creating texture through mixed media and layering as a base to draw on. All the Sixth Formers really enjoyed the experience- the work which they produced was fantastic!

Photography A Level

Did you know we now offer photography as an A Level?  The students are taught not only the skills of how to use a digital SLR camera, but also learn dark room techniques and experiment with a range of traditional film cameras. Have a look at some of the photographs currently around the department- there is some impressive work!

Robin Hood's Stride - Field Trip

Another glance over the shoulder to the end of last term. This time; a field trip, sketching in the Peak District on the last Thursday of Trinity. The photos here show Year 12 A-Level Art Students working around Robin Hood's Stride using sketchbooks they had made (selecting their own blend of drawing papers). A smashing day out for all involved. Thanks again to Trip Leader Mrs Prince for organising the visit, and driving us all there and back!

Summer Exhibition 2015

Where to begin a new term? A quick glance back, perhaps, at the Summer Exhibition, which showcased the talents of our Year 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 students. A wonderfully diverse range of creative experiments and outcomes that encompassed painting, drawing, photography, mixed media and 3D/installation work. What you see in the following gallery is just a snapshot of the work exhibited, and as ever, is a pale imitation of the scale and ambition of the work presented.

We are immensely proud of our students. It's not hard to see why.
